On August 13th we will be hosting a free screening of the critically acclaimed anime film, Your Name.
Written and directed by Makoto Shinkai, Your Name tells the story of a high school girl called Mitsuha in rural Japan, who has strange dreams and ends up swapping bodies with high school boy Taki in Tokyo. After a while the dreams stop and Taki desperately tries to reconnect with Mitsuha, and goes on an adventure to find her town of Itomori.
This romantic, fantasy drama is beautifully animated from the highly detailed streets of Tokyo to the mysterious fictional locations. This film is certainly not one to be missed and truly captures that familiar relatable sense of looking for something, someone, someplace.
After it's release Your Name became the highest grossing anime and Japanese film of all time, beating 2003's Spirited Away, until earlier this year when Spirited Away was released in China and the first anime not directed by Hayao Miyazaki to gross more than ¥10 billion at the Japanese box office.
